The Payroll Tax Accounting Associate position is responsible for high volume multi-state payroll tax compliance as well as providing general accounting support to the HR&P Accounting Department. Assignments will alternate between Payroll Tax and Accounting as needed depending on work flow demands. This position reports to the Payroll Tax Manager.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Process high volume federal, multi-state, and local tax deposits on a daily, weekly, semi-monthly, monthly, and quarterly basis using Master Tax;
  • Submit federal, state, and local tax filings on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis using Master Tax;
  • Complete Daily bank reconciliations for multiple legal entity bank accounts;
  • Assist with quarter and year closing tasks;
  • Process state unemployment tax deposits and submit filings as needed;
  • Reconcile W-2's to 940/941's on a quarterly and annual basis;
  • Review, record, and process accounts payable;
  • Perform reconciliations to support the monthly bank reconciliation process;
  • Assist with processing garnishments;
  • Enter information into spreadsheets; filing, copying, and other general office duties as assigned;
  • Additional responsibilities/special projects as needed.

Knowledge Skills & Abilities:

  • Minimum 2 years' payroll tax experience required;
  • Accounting degree and/or Payroll experience required; 
  • Master Tax and/or Summit experience a plus;
  • Accuracy and high attention to detail; 
  • Working knowledge of financial documents and accounting practices;
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office including Excel, Word, Exchange. Experience with accounting software.
  • Spreadsheets: Using a computer application to enter, manipulate, and format text and numerical data; insert, delete, and manipulate cells, rows, and columns; and create and save worksheets, charts, and graphs.
  • Databases: Using a computer application to manage large amounts of information, including creating and editing simple databases, inputting data, retrieving specific records, and creating reports to communicate the information;
  • Judgment and Decision Making: Considering the relative costs and benefits of potential actions to choose the most appropriate one.
